Many users were unhappy with the announcement, but Instagram was quick and chose to reveal how its algorithm ranking worked.
Instagram pointed out in an information conference with reporters that its machine learning relies on users\' past behavior to generate personalized feeds.
There are three main criteria for prioritizing the content of the feed: interest, proximity, and relationships.
Interest is related to your previous behavior on a particular post.
If Instagram\'s machine learning gains your likes, comments, and even attention to specific types of content, the platform will begin to show you relevant photos or videos.
On the other hand, the recent time has to do with the time frame of your shared post.
What users will see is a recent post, such as a post a few minutes or a few days ago, rather than a post shared a few weeks ago.
Third, the relationship refers to the user\'s prior interaction with the person or account who posted the content.
If you have been commenting on posts or being tagged in photos, you will see more in your feed.
In addition to the core criteria, Instagram cites three patterns that determine ranking and feed content.
These are frequency, follow and use.
When you open the app frequently, Instagram refreshes your feed based on the above factors to show the relevant content.
If you focus on a few accounts, Instagram will try to diversify the content of the feed so you don\'t miss posts that you might find interesting.
Finally, the average time you spend on your app increases the likelihood that you will only see the most relevant content.
Browsing for a longer period of time allows you to explore a wider range of feed content.
During the media conference, Instagram also clarified some common misconceptions about creating feeds and content rankings. The Facebook-
Owned company emphasizes that it will not intentionally hide content, nor will it lower the ranking of users because of continuous, separate posts or other behaviors.
Instagram also told the media that it would not give priority to business accounts rather than personal ones.
Again, it also doesn\'t like a content type compared to other content types, but if you get in touch with photos a lot then you might see more.
Continue to use the app\'s stories, live broadcasts, and other features, but don\'t expect a higher feed ranking because Instagram doesn\'t play favorites.
If you continue to scroll for a while, you may find your friend\'s reply Thursday photo on Monday.
